Success Stories

(some of the Dachsies who have found new humans to spoil them)

KayDee

After a rough start in life this little bundle of energy is now happily living with her own pet kitty...just don't tell the kitty.

Princey

Hi I'm Princey. I am one of the few dachshunds who come to DachsieHaven without any special issues. My human's had special issues that made it important that they find me a new home. My timing was perfect (almost heaven sent) because my new human's best buddy had just crossed the rainbow bridge. She was sure it was too soon to get a new dog but then we met and it was love at first sniff.

Buster

It took Buster boy a couple of tries to find his perfect family. He now has a little two little boys to play with and is as happy as can be.

Annie

This little angel is now a member of a very special pack.  Her new family includes my very own grand puppy Guiness and his little lady Rosie. Those two are mom's but little Miss Annie is a daddy's girl all the way.

Little Bit

Little Bit found a home with a family that already had one dachsie. This way she didn't miss having mom and dad around. She has her new family perfectly wrapped around her little paws.

Molly (aka Spunky)

Molly has found a new forever home after being through two homes in the last year before coming to DachsieHaven. She was very stubborn about learning to potty outdoors at her old home but has learned really quick how to go to the door and ask to go out for a walk. She has two other mini dachsie buddies to spend her days with and is quite content.

Heidi and Hans

This loving duo of long hair dachsies had no trouble finding a home. With their sweet and loving personalities they were quickly scooped up by and young family with lots of love to give.

Lady

Lady came from a backyard breeder that was using her to try to make puppies for a profit. She came into rescue in really bad shape and very very skinny. (She is actually fattened up after three weeks in foster care in this picture). She found a loving home with the same humans that adopted Dargo and Missy.

Ollie

Ollie came to us through a friend after 2 long weeks at the Humane Society. With his time almost up he was adopted and brought here to find a forever home. He was sick and coughing and lonely. Then he  was just waiting patiently for just the right family to come and make his senior years happy. He found his forever home with wonderful humans in Olympia.

Petey

Petey is a sweet boy with a taste for kitty. He came to us after a failed adoption because he tried to eat the cat. He was a bit of a challenge to find a new home for and it took almost a year but he is now quite contented with his new human. This was a perfect match that just took its own sweet time coming together.

Rusty and Rosie

These two sweet and adorable siblings came into rescue and went right out to a wonderful new home. Their new mom was just waiting for a pair of youngsters to spoil rotten.  They came from a happy home with a mom and dad who loved them enough to know that it was time to let them go when life took one of its crazy twists and turns. Rather than leave them alone at home for long periods of time they went to a new home where they could get all the attention they needed.

Dash and Chase

These two guys are very happy and well socialized buddies. They are a bonded pair and had to be adopted together. Dash is a 7 year old red short hair tweenie and Chase is a 6 year old short hair black and tan mini/tweenie. They came to live at Camp Dachsie because their owner had life issues that prevented him from being home enough to care for them. Now they are happily living with their new humans in Whatcom county.

Murphy  and Pretzel

Meet Murphy  and Pretzel two small standard dachsies. They are buddies that came from the same home and went to a new home in Oregon together. Murphy was a bit shy but he warmed right up to his new mom. Pretzel is just all puppy who loves everyone and just moved right into his new home where he is adored by all.

Sydney

Miss Sydney is a special little girl. She had back problems and had to have surgery last March. She's still a little lopsided but adorable and sweet none the less. Sydney found her perfect human with a new mom that also had back surgery just about the same time and is a little lopsided herself. It was a match made in heaven and love at first sight. She adores her new papa too. And at last check she was seen happily chasing cats and doing very well in her rehabilitation.

Jim Dandy

This boy is just as his name says....a Jim Dandy buddy. He is living in Bellingham with a nice lady who was just looking for a mature boy to love. This little sweetie had lost his first owner to old age and his new owner to an assisted living home. Now he is happy again in his forever home. At last report this boy was a traveling man bouncing all over on road trips with his new human.

Joey/Jacques

Hi my new name is Jacques. I have had a hard couple of years. I was found in southern Oregon and went to the shelter. A nice couple adopted me but I had too many issues so they took me back. Then a nice lady with a kennel took me in and helped me with some of my issues but still couldn't find me a new home. Then I came to Camp Dachsie and like a miracle I bumped into my forever humans. It was love at first sight.

Tycho

Tycho is just about the most adorable little guy you would ever want to meet. He weighs in at just over 7 pounds of pure cuddle and love. Unfortunately we discovered that he is also a special needs puppy. His previous owners had trouble housebreaking him. It turns out the poor fellow is a borderline diabetic. Right now he can be managed with good quality food and a careful diet but one day he may need to be put on insulin. Tycho has found  that special someone who is willing to take care of him forever no matter what. He now lives with Princey's family.

Birta

Hi I'm Birta. I was found wandering by myself on Ft. Lewis. I am a very big girl at 33 lbs and were not sure but one of my ancestors might not have been a dachsie but I have a heart of gold. I spent a long time in the shelter on base before DachsieHaven found me at the last minute. Now I have my very own humans and a boy to play ball and tug of war with any time I want. I am spoiled rotten and loving every moment of it.

Sweet Pea

Hi my name is Sweet Pea. I came to Camp Doxie from the King County Humane Society. Nobody wanted me because I was old and grey. But true to my new name I am a real sweetie I just needed someone to give me a second chance. I went all the way up to Whatcom County to find my new human. Reports are that we are a match made in heaven.

Sasha (aka Heidi)

Hi my name is Heidi and I am a very sweet and pretty puppy. I picked out my human almost before I had a chance to get into rescue. I was a challenge to housebreak but my new family is patient and is teaching me to follow all the rules. And my new Dachsie buddy helps keep me in line too.

Dargo (aka Tramp)

Hi I'm Dargo. My former humans couldn't keep me any more so I came to Camp Dachsie through a friend. I found my perfect human just a day after I arrived. Now I am her registered service dog because I am so smart.

Riley

Hi I'm Riley and I definitely have the life of Riley. I adopted my new humans in the early summer by just wrapping them around my paw the minute the walked thru the door. Now I have two pet cats to play with and a big couch to lie on and my own yard to run and play in. I was accused of being a snappy dog but I just needed a special touch. Just give me a tennis ball and I will be your friend for ever and ever.

Sally

Hi I'm Sally. I got my new human thru Dargo's human. She's her mom. Now I live a pampered life with my own pet corgi. I was thought to be nippy but the truth was I was just very shy and needed time to adjust to new surroundings.

Tiny

Hi my name is Tiny and I am anything but at 22 lbs. I came to DachsieHaven because I was nippy with small kids. I love to play ball more than anything in the whole world. Now I have a human family with a boy all my own who plays ball with me all the time. I still don't like little kids if they come in the house but I will put up with them if they are in the yard playing ball with me.

Missy

Hi I'm Missy and I am a quiet and shy little old girl. I am old and grumpy. I was with another foster agency but they decided I was too aggressive to place after I bit my vet so I ended up at the shelter again. If you had most of your teeth pulled you'd bite the vet too. I'm really chubby because my teeth were so bad I could only eat soft fattening food. I didn't like anyone when I came to DachsieHaven. I spent all my time sulking in my kennel until I met Dargo. I liked him so much his humans took me home with them. Now I am Daddy's spoiled little girl....and I even like my new vet.

Hansel

Hi I'm Hansel. I was just over 18 months old when I came to DachsieHaven. I had already been to the pound twice and had 3 different owners in my short life. Now I am at my forever home with my forever owner who just loves me to pieces. He's very patient with me because my early days have left me very insecure. I am just a total Velcro puppy now.

Wilbur (aka Silly Willy)

Hi I'm Wilbur. I am one of DachsieHaven's special foster residents. My humans had major life issues that made it impossible for me to live with them for a while so I came to live at DachsieHaven for almost a year. When life got good again I was able to go home to my humans. I am so glad I could go to Camp Dachsie rather than to that big old shelter though I almost got sent there when I ate the wool blanket I'm lying on.

Pow

Hi there I'm Pow. I came from a neglectful home via the Fort Lewis Animal Shelter. My owner left me locked up for weeks at a time while he was away doing Army stuff. I was very lonely and unhappy. Even though I was not a pure dachshund I got to go to DachsieHaven and find a new forever home. I now have my own little girl and a pet pug to keep me company all day. I am living the life of a happy spoiled puppy.
