Happy and Giggles come as a pair and can not be separated. Happy is Giggle's uncle and they have been together since puppyhood. When their humans had to move across country they came to live here at DachsieHaven.

These two need to go to a home with dachshund experience. They are two very strong willed dogs and will take advantage of an owner that is not firm with the house rules. Due to lack of training and discipline both of them had guarding and stranger aggression issues when they first came to DachsieHaven. Since coming into rescue these issues have been dealt with and they no longer nip at strangers. We are presently working on the barking/guarding at the front fence. Happy is the more happy and outgoing of the pair while Gig is much more shy and timid. Originally Gig's timid nature made his fear aggression with strangers more acute.

These boys just love children and had young children in their previous home. Their energetic and playful nature would make another home with kids ideal. They are a rough and tumble pair and Happy likes nothing better than a game of fetch or tug-a-rope. Both of them think they are mini lap dogs and will hop up on your chair at the first opportunity. Happy will sleep on his pillow next to the bed but Giggles is much more content to be up sleeping with his humans.

 Coco

Size: Mini approx 10 lbs

Age : approx 6 years

Sex: Female

Coat: Smooth

Color: Red

Coco is a special needs darling. She was diagnosed with IVDD and had spinal surgery over two years ago. She was one of the unlucky ones where the surgery and rehab therapy did not work. Coco is paralyzed in the rear and uses a cart most of the time to get around. She came with her own cart that doesn't fit her well. She borrows Jake's cart a lot but we are presently trying to raise money for a set of properly fitted Eddie's Wheels (like in the picture). Her back problems have left her mobility challenged but this does not slow our little spitfire down one bit. She keeps up with the pack as well as any other dachshund. This little girl is an absolute doll with an attitude. She likes things her way. Coca has no bladder or bowel control and must be expressed regularly throughout the day. She does wear diapers but when she gets tired of them she will shed them.

All adoptions require an application, interview and home visit. Adoption fees are part of all adoptions. Fees help to cover the cost of maintaining the rescue and paying for vet care for those that come in in bad shape.

If the dog is not already spayed/neutered a refundable deposit will be required to be returned upon proof from vet of spay/neuter.

All dogs are not suitable for all homes. Some dogs can not be placed in homes with children or cats or other types of dogs.
